Earth Networks - WeatherBug Hires Richard Wathen as Vice President of Finance
Germantown, MD – August 28, 2013 –Earth Networks, the parent company of the popular WeatherBug brand of consumer weather apps, hired Richard Wathen as vice president of finance to oversee accounting and financial operations across the company. Wathen brings to Earth Networks 20 years of extensive experience working with both established and emerging technology companies to build core administration and financial infrastructure and to accelerate growth by raising capital and developing strategic alliances.
Prior to joining Earth Networks, Wathen served as chief financial officer (CFO) of OTraces, a private biotech organization. Earlier, Wathen was the CFO at GlobalLogic, a software product development services firm, and at netASPx, a provider of cloud-based business applications. Wathen also served in senior financial executive positions at CareerBuilder and Legent Corporation. He started his finance career at ROLM/IBM Corporation in corporate planning.
Wathen graduated from Kenyon College with a B.A. in political science, cum laude, and the University of Chicago with an MBA with a finance concentration.
