Dan O’Connell

General Counsel & Chief Privacy Officer

Dan O’Connell is general counsel and chief privacy officer for Earth Networks. In this role, he is responsible for all corporate and transactional legal work across global operations in areas that include business development, intellectual property, advertising, marketing, distribution, content licensing, technology licensing, joint ventures and acquisitions. As chief privacy officer, O’Connell is responsible for managing the risks and business impacts of privacy laws and policies, and leads the effort in designing and maintaining industry-leading practices in the area of data privacy.

O’Connell has held his current position since 2004, when the company was known as AWS. Previously, he served as vice president, finance and administration, at AWS. Prior to his corporate roles, O’Connell spent 15 years in the private practice of law, during which time he focused primarily on commercial litigation.

O’Connell holds a law degree from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law and a bachelor of science in business administration from Villanova University. He is also recognized as a Certified Privacy Professional by the IAPP.
