Michael W. Taylor

Managing Director, HarbourVest Partners LLC

Michael Taylor joined HarbourVest in 1998 in the Boston office. He is focused on primary partnership investing. In 2014, Michael relocated to Asia to complement our local teams and act as a member of our global leadership team in Asia. Michael has experience across all investment areas of the HarbourVest platform – in addition to his current focus on partnership fund investments, he was originally a member of the direct team and also focused on secondary interests in partnerships and direct portfolio acquisitions. He serves on the advisory boards of partnerships managed by Battery Ventures, Highland Capital Partners, Pamlico Capital, Spark Capital, Stone Point Capital, Ventizz Capital Partners, and Vestar Capital Partners. Michael also serves on the Board of Directors of Earth Networks.

He joined HarbourVest after several years with Morgan Stanley’s investment banking division. Michael served as a Lieutenant Commander with the United States Navy, as a Naval Aviator.

He received a BS (with distinction) from the United States Naval Academy in 1986 and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1995.


Robert M. Wadsworth

Managing Director, HarbourVest Partners LLC

Rob Wadsworth joined HarbourVest in 1986 and focuses on direct co-investments globally. He manages many of the Firm’s investment activities in the industrial, services, and information technology sectors. Rob also serves on the Firm’s Executive Management Committee. Rob works with a number of portfolio companies in a director capacity. He is currently a director of Earth Networks, Intelex Technologies, Kinaxis, and several other privately-held companies. Rob has been responsible for more than 200 of HarbourVest’s direct investments and has served as a director on approximately 50 of those companies’ boards.

Rob’s prior experience includes management consulting with Booz, Allen & Hamilton, where he specialized in the areas of operations strategy and manufacturing productivity.

He received a BS (magna cum laude) in Systems Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Virginia in 1982 and an MBA (with distinction) from Harvard Business School in 1986. Rob serves as a Trustee of the University of Virginia School of Engineering & Applied Science and St. Sebastian’s School and is a former Trustee of Dana Hall School.


Stephen Weiss

Stephen Weiss has spent the past 18 years in proprietary post-secondary education, creating and building organizations to leadership positions. Since August 2009, Weiss has been advising private equity firms on all aspects of investments in the education sector. From 2003 to 2009, he was the founding President of Education Management Corporation’s Online Higher Education division. EDMC delivers fully online and hybrid programs through South University, Argosy University and The Art Institutes.

From 1998 to 2003, Mr. Weiss was the president and chief operating officer of Capella Education Company (NASDAQ:CPLA), which operates Capella University, a leading fully online post-secondary institution. Capella University has continued its online education pioneering role with innovative program formats and programmatic areas of focus. During his tenure, Capella Education Company earned positions on the Inc. 500 list for fastest growing private companies for five consecutive years.

Prior to entering the education sector in 1998, Weiss held several senior-level operating positions within Fortune 500 companies. His primary focus was leading the turnaround of underperforming business units through a broader vision and strategic direction.

Mr. Weiss is on the board of Colibri Group, which provides qualifying and continuing learning solutions to over 400,000 licensed professionals within the real estate, healthcare and personal care markets, among others. Historically, Weiss has served on the Education Advisory Board of Bertelsmann AG and Twin Cities Public Television board. He earned his bachelor of science from Skidmore College and an MBA from Babson College.
