  • Nov 27, 2017

While most people in the United States are still listening to songs for fall weather, it’s winter for some people, too. It’s time to break out the snow shovels and the fa-la-la’s with our playlist of the best winter weather songs out there. Keep reading to get all the songs from our music Monday playlist. Don’t forget to add any favorites we missed in the comments below!

Best Winter Weather Songs

1. Winter Wonderland

This first pick on our list of songs about winter weather is a classic. Dean Martin’s rendition of “Winter Wonderland” is up there with our favorites. In the instrumentation you can almost hear the flakes of snow as Martin sings of snowmen and warm fires. Tis the season!

2. A Hazy Shade Of Winter – Simon and Garfunkel

The next song isn’t as bubbly, but neither is winter weather. It can be cold, unforgiving, and plain old hazy. That’s why the next track on our Music Monday playlist is this one by Simon and Garfunkel.

3. A Winter Snowscape – Jethro Tull

This next song on our list makes you think of a snowy field on a cloudy day. Jethro Tull’s “A Winter Snowscape” proves that winter weather can be beautiful and that the flute can rock.

4. Cold Weather Blues – Muddy Waters

Fourth on our list of the best songs about winter is “Cold Weather Blues.” With less exposure to Vitamin D, it’s easier to get upset during the winter months. Make sure you not only bundle up but also take care of yourself mentally this winter season – no matter the weather.

5. Fox In The Snow – Belle & Sebastian

Here’s another song for anyone feeling the winter time blues thanks to the snow, clouds, and wind. If you’re not already familiar with Belle & Sebastian, “Fox In The Snow” is a great introductory song.

6. Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out – Bruce Springsteen

Let’s get things up beat again with Bruce. “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out” is just one of those songs that makes you want to dance. Maybe you’re dancing to keep warm. Who knows how cold it was on Tenth Avenue on the day Bruce wrote this song?

7. The Winter Is Cold – Wendy & Bonnie

Next on our Music Monday playlist is a song that states the obvious. “The Winter Is Cold” isn’t always true for every part of the world. Then again, cold is all about perspective for some people. For example, folks in Florida think it’s cold during their winter when temperatures hover in the 50’s, where friends in Vermont would find 50 degree temperatures insanely warm for that time of year.

8. While I Shovel The Snow – The Walkmen

Where there is snow, there are shovels. One of the worst parts about winter weather is snow shoveling. The activity can be daunting and dangerous. Every winter, about 100 people die in the U.S. while shoveling snow. This happens all around the world, in places like Canada and Europe, too. It’s important to monitor your heart rate and not push yourself too hard, especially if you’re not in perfect health.

9. Ice, Ice Baby – Vanilla Ice

There wouldn’t be a playlist with songs about winter coming without including “Ice, ice baby. In most areas, it’s not winter without ice. While we’re sure winter didn’t inspire Vanilla Ice to write this song, we’re sure it’s a must-listen during the winter season. It makes you feel just a little bit better about winter-related traffic and shoveling. Trust us.

Preparing For Winter Weather

Winter weather can be a problem for homeowners, but there are certain industries that it can absolutely ruin. For example, energy and utility companies have a lot of disruptions in the winter. Snow, ice, and blizzards can also be a problem for local governments. Not to mention, the lack of snow greatly affects snow-making operations at ski resorts.

Lightning software can be extremely useful in the winter, especially if it integrates other weather data points and alerts from the National Weather Service. Don’t leave your customers out in the cold this winter.
