Earth Networks Promotes Dave Oberholzer to Vice President of the WeatherBug Home Business Unit

Germantown, Md. June 16, 2015 Earth Networks, the parent company of the popular WeatherBug® brand, promoted David (Dave) Oberholzer to the position of vice president of business and partner development for the company’s growing WeatherBug Home  business unit.

In this expanded role, Oberholzer leads a team that will continue to drive partnership engagement and go-to-market strategies with device and platform technology providers to reach additional utilities and retail energy providers. Oberholzer joined the company in 2011 and previously held the position of director, energy products and business development.

The WeatherBug Home business unit delivers an innovative and powerful integration of big weather data, smart meter data, two-way connected thermostats, and connected home IoT sensors to drive home energy management, comfort and savings for consumers. WeatherBug Home automatically delivers energy efficiency and provides insights and alerts to consumers based on the weather, which drives 50 percent of home energy consumption.

WeatherBug Home recently made its mobile debut on the popular WeatherBug app for iOS and Android. The app now includes a Home Energy Meter, a feature that educates consumers about the close connection between weather and energy use. WeatherBug Home is partnering with companies such as Honeywell and Accelerated Innovations to bring its energy usage insight to consumers.
